Questions get asked. Opinions get shared. One taste leads to another question — and before long, everyone knows a little more about what’s in their glass.

In Her Glass is our series of intimate tastings created especially for women, held upstairs in Admiral’s Quarters at Hains & Co.

Each Edition explores a different spirit, wine or drink category - from tequila and Champagne to whisky, bourbon and beyond. We’ll get into where it comes from, how it’s made, what to look for and, most importantly, how to work out what you like.

No assumed knowledge. No wrong questions. Plenty to discover.

In Her Glass has its home in Admiral’s Quarters, the newly unveiled, intimate bar upstairs at Hains & Co.

We keep each Edition small so there’s room for conversation - with the host and with the other women around the table.

You’ll be welcomed with a drink, then settle in for a guided tasting with small bites along the way. We’ll taste, compare, talk, ask questions and get properly into the subject.

Serious drinks, serious knowledge, but never too serious.

It began with inspiration from Scotland, yet over the past century Japan has developed a whisky culture and style distinctly its own.

So what makes a Japanese whisky Japanese? Why can one be light and delicate and another smoky and complex? What’s the difference between a grain whisky, a single malt and a blend, and can you actually taste it? And what difference does twelve years of maturation really make?
